One of the main reasons Soho Farmhouse has gained such notoriety is the opportunity it presents to completely switch off from the world. It’s pure escapism in the English countryside, where for a few hours, your worries seem to disappear. And where better to relax than in a spa? Luckily, the Soho Farmhouse spa is one of the best I’ve seen, sprawling across the estate and offering everything from ice rooms to infra-red saunas. By the end of this article, you’ll know exactly what to expect from the Soho Farmhouse spa, and what you need to book in advance so you don’t miss out on the day.

About the Soho Farmhouse Spa

The Cowshed Spa originally opened at Babington House in Somerset, one of the first Soho House properties to open back in 1998. It got its name from the old cow shed it calls home, and whilst that doesn’t sound like the most enticing place to build a spa, it was designed to be “a retreat within a retreat” and quickly became the star of the show. So it was only right that when Soho Farmhouse opened in 2015, the spa would take centre stage.

Can you use the Soho Farmhouse spa if you don’t have a membership?

No. The spa is only open to members of Soho House. You’ll need to show your membership card on entry to Soho Farmhouse.

Can you use the Soho Farmhouse spa if you have a Soho Friends membership?

Yes, but only if you’re staying over at Soho Farmhouse or joining someone with a full House membership for the day. If you’re a guest of a member, you’ll be unable to book online and will need to contact the spa directly to book.

Do you need to book the spa?

Yes, I’d recommend booking the Soho Farmhouse spa in advance. On my most recent visit, I checked to see if there was availability for the Lazy Lake and they were fully booked. You might get lucky in more off-peak times, but I’d always recommend booking so you don’t miss out.

Does Soho Farmhouse have a sauna?

Yes, this year the Soho Farmhouse spa underwent a renovation of what was formerly known as steam island. Now called Lazy Lake, the outdoor space features 3 infrared saunas, as well as four hot tubs sunken into the lake, an ice room and a steam room.

Is the pool at Soho Farmhouse heated?

The indoor-outdoor pool at Soho Farmhouse is heated year-round and open every day. It’s located in the boathouse and is made up of a 16-metre indoor pool and a 25-metre outdoor pool overlooking the lake. It’s absolutely stunning and one of the main attractions at Soho Farmhouse.

The Lazy Lake at Soho Farmhouse Spa

Opening its doors in Summer this year, the Lazy Lake is a brand-new addition to the Soho Farmhouse spa. It’s an outdoor space nestled amongst nature consisting of an ice room, steam room, infrared sauna cabins, and four hot tubs sunken into the lake. There’s a range of treatments to choose from, plus a selection of natural salts and seaweeds that can be added to your private tub.

There’s also hot and cold immersion therapy on offer at the Lazy Lake – where you expose yourself to the heat, then the cold, and repeat. It’s been shown to improve circulation, reduce inflammation and increase your mood.

Soho Health Club

Beyond the Soho Farmhouse spa is Soho Health Club, which encompasses the pool, gym and weekly classes.

The swimming pool

Probably the most photographed building at Soho Farmhouse, the Boathouse overlooking the lake is also where you’ll find the swimming pool. The indoor-outdoor pool is made up of a heated 16-metre indoor pool and a 25-metre outdoor pool overlooking the lake. The swimming pool is open to adults every day between 6.30am-10pm. Children can only swim between 9.30am-11.30am and 3.30pm-6pm Monday to Friday.

The gym

The gym at Soho Farmhouse runs a daily timetable of classes, as well as providing access to treadmills, rowers, squat racks, a boxing ring and Peloton bikes. Classes include yoga, HIIT, sculpt, barre and tennis.
