Is there Uber in Mallorca? There Is, But Read This First
Planning a trip to Mallorca and wondering if there’s Uber on the island?
I’ve visited Mallorca 3 times and have used just about every form of public transport to get around.

Is there Uber in Mallorca?
Yes, there is Uber in Mallorca. It’s a more recent addition to the island, having only been there since earlier this year.
Types of Uber you can take in Mallorca
Comfort – A standard Uber for up to 4 people
Van – Larger vehicles for groups of up to 6 people
Comfort Reserve – More comfortable cars with top rated drivers (4 people)
Taxi – Order a taxi from a local company through the Uber app. The ride is metered so there won’t be a set price ahead of time
Getting from the airport to your hotel
1. Airport bus
The A1 bus leaves from Palma airport to Palma city centre every 9 minutes, and from the airport to the Port every 18 minutes.
A ticket costs €5 one way, so this is the most affordable option. However, if you’re not staying in Palma, you’ll need to arrange onward travel.
In summer, the bus runs from 6am to 2am to the city centre, and in winter it runs from 6am-1:10am.
2. Shared transfer
If you prefer to have your transfer booked in advance, this shared transfer is a great option. It’s a guaranteed service, so even if your flight is delayed, there will still be transport waiting for you.
Unlike the airport bus that only goes to Palma, this transfer will take you to your hotel anywhere on the island, you can bring on 2 standard size pieces of luggage, and the vehicle is air conditioned.
3. Private transfer
If you’re anything like me and prefer getting to your hotel quickly when you’ve got off a flight, a private transfer is a great option.
The driver will be waiting for you in arrivals to help with your luggage, the car will be air conditioned, and they’ll take you directly to your accommodation.
➡️ Make sure you book one in advance, as it may sell out.
Where is Uber available in Mallorca?
Uber is available on the whole island of Mallorca, but you might have to wait longer if you’re in a more remote area.
How much does Uber cost in Mallorca?
Uber in Mallorca costs a lot more than taking a local taxi. When we visited this summer, we paid €90 for a 30-minute trip to the airport with Uber.
We were quoted €40 for the same journey with a taxi, but it didn’t arrive despite us calling several times, so we were forced to pay over twice as much for Uber.
This is the biggest reason why I wouldn’t recommend Uber as a first choice for getting around.
Instead, I’d suggest hiring a car. It’s much more affordable than taking taxis, and means you can come and go as you please, without relying on anyone else.
Is Uber safe in Mallorca?
Yes, it’s safe to use Uber in Mallorca. I’m a bit of an over thinker, so I’m always extra cautious, especially if I’m travelling alone.
Here are a few things I’d recommend doing to help you feel safer:
- Check the number plate matches the one on the app. I once ordered an Uber in Barcelona and the car showed up with different number plates. He said he’d “just got new plates” but I felt really uncomfortable and ordered a new Uber.
- Send your location to a friend. I always send my live location to a friend whenever I’m in an Uber. That way, I know someone else can track where I’m going.
- Follow the journey on your Google Maps. If I’m travelling alone, I always follow the route to make sure we’re going the right way. You can report anything that feels suspicious to Uber within the app.
- Check the Uber drivers rating. You’ll only see this after the Uber has been confirmed, but I never like to travel with a driver who has a low rating. The app doesn’t tell you the reason which is frustrating, but I don’t like to take the risk. You might get charged a small amount if you cancel, but it’s better to be safe.
Don’t feel bad about refusing to get in the car if you feel uncomfortable. Even if you do have to pay a cancellation fee, your safety is more important.
What is the best way to get around in Mallorca?
There’s a few different options for getting around the island depending on your budget and where you’re staying.
1. Public transport
The buses in Mallorca are a great way to get around the island. From Palma, you can get anywhere on the island by bus.
There’s two main bus companies on the island – EMT which have buses around Palma and nearby areas, and TIB which link Palma to the villages and towns.
For EMT buses, a single ride cost €2, or you can purchase a 10 ticket pass for €10.
With the TIB buses, the price will vary depending on your destination.
One of my favourite things to do in Mallorca is to take the wooden train from Palma to Soller. The journey takes about an hour and is a beautiful way to see the countryside.
Soller is a stunning town that I’d recommend dedicating a day to exploring. Whilst you’re there, you can get buses to the neighbouring towns of Deia, Valldemossa, and Fornalutx.
2. Taxi
If you’d prefer to go directly to your destination, a local taxi might be a good option, but it’ll be expensive.
3. Hiring a car
If you like having the flexibility to explore on your own terms, hiring a car is the best option. It’s much more affordable than taking taxis, and means you can come and go as you please.
I personally love hiring a car when I go away as I find it so much easier to be able to put everything I need in the boot and head out for the day.
Plus, I love the option to discover hidden coves or smaller towns that might be inaccessible with public transport.
4. Rent an ATV
Hiring an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) or buggy is a really unique way to discover Mallorca.
If you’ve not driven one before, I’d strongly recommend joining a tour. You’ll head out on a quad bike with a small group to discover the stunning landscapes of the island, before stopping for a cliff jumping and snorkelling adventure.
Why book this tour?
✔️ Free cancellation and nothing to pay upfront
✔️ Over 1,500 reviews with a 4.8 star rating
✔️ Includes a quad bike tour, snorkel, swim and cliff jump
✔️ Tour the island in a really unique way
Do you need a car in Mallorca?
I’d really recommend hiring a car for your trip to Mallorca. There is public transport on the island but it’s less reliable, and having a car means you can stop off at places you might otherwise miss.
Mallorca isn’t a huge island, so it doesn’t take long to get from one side to the other, and the majority of the roads are easy to drive on.
In peak season, hire car companies are extremely busy, so I’d recommend booking a car in advance so you don’t miss out, and to secure the cheapest prices.
➡️ I use Discover Car whenever I’m hiring a car abroad. They compare lots of different providers to find you the best price.
Plus, I’ve never had any bad experiences where they won’t give you your money back at the end like you sometimes hear about with dodgy car hire companies. The process is always really simple and stress-free.
