Of all the islands we visited during our 2 week Greek island hopping trip, Milos was by far my favourite.
Formed through volcanic activity millions of years ago, Milos has a unique landscape made up of rocky coastline, crystal clear water and rugged cliffs.
So it’ll come as know surprise that as the island’s popularity has grown, so have the number of hotels.

Domes White Coast is an adults-only hotel located just a few minutes from the beach in peaceful Mytakas.
There’s 30 air-conditioned rooms in the hotel, and each one of them has a private pool.
This is the best boutique hotel in Milos if you want a slice of luxury – you’ll be able to choose your own pillow from a “pillow selection menu”, and room service is available 24/7.
The hotel also benefits from an outdoor pool, restaurant and a bar, and it’s only a 5 minute walk to the beautiful sandy beaches of Mytakas, or a 7 minute drive to Sarakiniko.

2. White Pebble Suites
White Pebble Suites has one of the best locations in Milos, perched on a cliff in the idyllic fishing village of Pollonia, with panoramic sea views over the Aegean.
There’s only 12 suites at the hotel, so it’ll never feel overcrowded, and 8 of the rooms have their own private plunge pools.
All bedrooms have private terraces perfect for soaking up the sea views, and some have their own private plunge pools.
There’s a bar and a restaurant, and you’ll be able to order whatever you fancy through an iPad in your bedroom.
The Greek menu is designed to showcase the best of the local produce, but the chef is more than happy to put together a bespoke menu if you let them know what you fancy.
3. Milos Breeze Boutique Hotel
Found just a 2 minute walk from Pollonia beach, the cliffside location of Milos Breeze provides panoramic sea views, best enjoyed from the outdoor swimming pool.
All of the air-conditioned bedrooms have a balcony or terrace, a flat-screen TV, mini fridge, and a luxurious bathroom, and some have their own private pool or spa bath.
There’s an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar, all benefiting from impressive sea views.
The hotel is also able to arrange a number of experiences during your stay, including cooking classes and sports lessons.
4. Cave Suites Milos
Cave Suites Milos is undoubtedly one of the best boutique hotels in Milos, with an impressive rating of 9.9 on Booking.com (the highest score on this list).
Ideally located a 20 minute walk from Sarakiniko, this hotel is perfect if you want to enjoy this iconic beach without the crowds.
Every suite is exactly the same size, sleeping up to 3 adults with a double bed and sofa bed (note this is an adults only hotel).
Each room has a balcony with a private plunge pool and a panoramic sea view.
Although there’s no restaurant at the hotel, an a la carte breakfast made up of local produce is served in your room daily.
5. Terra Mare Suites
Terra Mare Suites is one of the most unique properties in Milos, located on the beachfront in stunning Mytakas.
Wake up to the sound of waves and start your day with a refreshing dip in the ocean, at this property you only need to take a few steps and you’ll be in the water.
The apartment is available to rent as a whole, sleeping 7 people, or as two separate suites, one sleeping 4 and one sleeping 3.
The air-conditioned house features a flat screen TV, WiFi, and a private terrace overlooking the sea.
Whilst this might not be your typical boutique hotel with a front desk and a restaurant, the houses features a flat screen TV, WiFi, a small kitchen and a private terrace overlooking the sea.
Waking up would be magical, and the perfect base for a trip to Milos.
6. Milos Cove
If you’re searching for luxury, look no further than Milos Cove.
With its own private beach area, an outdoor infinity pool, a spa, gym and two restaurants and bars, this is one of the best boutique hotels in Milos.
All suites and villas have a private pool or plunge pool, and some benefit from a terrace overlooking the ocean.
The details aren’t forgotten about here either, with double rain showers, Nespresso coffee makers and luxury toiletries at standard.
Milos Cove is located a little further away from the more popular sights, but it’s worth it for the unrivalled views surrounding the hotel.
7. Delmar Apartments and Suites
Located next to Pollonia’s sandy beach, Delmar Apartments and Suites is a newly renovated boutique hotel in Milos.
The rooms range from a Deluxe Studio to a Deluxe Family Suite, making it perfect for both families and couples.
Each room comes with air-conditioning, a fridge, outdoor area and a TV.
If you’re in need of extra space, the suites have a separate kitchen and seating area, plus large terraces which give you another dining area.
The hotel can also arrange different activities around the island for you, including a cruise around Milos, diving, kayaking and hiking.
8. Phos Suites
Scoring a very impressing 9.8 rating, Phos Suites is one of the best boutique hotels in Milos.
The 10 air conditioned rooms at are bright and airy, with neutral interiors and a sleek design.
Located just a 2 minute walk from Pollonia beach, you’ll be able to start your day with a dip. Or book one of their suites with a private pool and you won’t even need to leave your bedroom.
Whilst there’s no restaurant at Phos, some rooms come with a fully equipped kitchen, and the delicious eateries of Pollonia are just a short walk away.
If you’re planning to hire a car for your trip, Phos Suites has free private parking at the hotel.
9. Volcano Luxury Suites
Volcano Luxury Suites is an adults only boutique hotel that has everything you need for the perfect stay in Milos.
The hotel has a restaurant, fitness centre, a hammam and incredible sea views across the property.

Where should you stay in Milos?
The three most popular places to stay in Milos are Pollonia, Plaka and Adamas. I researched all 3 before visiting and settled on Pollonia, a stunning fishing village on the North of the island.
It’s less crowded than Adamas and Plaka, but still home to great restaurants and a quiet buzz.
I only visited Adamas briefly as its where the ferry port is located, and my initial impressions were that it was much more hectic and slightly too touristy for me – it doesn’t allow you to really get to know Milos.
Plaka’s another great option, it’s the capital of Milos and its hilltop position lends itself to incredible views of the Aegean sea.
Hiring a car in Milos
I’d definitely recommend having a car or an ATV for at least some of the time you’re in Milos as there’s so many incredible beaches that are really hard to get to without one.

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR TRIP
travel insurance
Travel insurance was always bottom of my priority list when it came to booking a holiday, and I’d often only remember to get it when I was already in a country, by which point it’s usually too late, as most insurance is invalid if the trip has already begun.
Perhaps it’s just because I’m older, but travel insurance is now top of my priority list these days. And it should be top of yours too, no matter what age you are.

IF YOU’RE RENTING A CAR, SAVE MONEY BY DOING THIS
My biggest tip for renting a car abroad is to never take the insurance offered by the rental company.
Some car rental companies will lure you in with cheap prices and then mandate that you take their insurance policy, which often costs more than the car hire. Make sure you read the small print because it’s a rubbish start to a holiday when it happens.
I always use insurance4carhire to purchase insurance and I’ve saved myself a LOT of money doing it this way.
DON’T TRAVEL WITHOUT
Liquids bag for the airport | I NEVER travel without this bag and I’ve recommended it to all my friends, and so now they all have one too. It’s a game-changer. No more scrambling around before security shoving your liquids into a sandwich bag. It’s the correct size for the amount you can take on board, so just pack it beforehand and breeze through security.
Extension cable | One of my favourite travel hacks and also something I’d never travel without is an extension cable. This way, you only need one travel adapter. The one I have and swear by is this one – there’s 3 plugs and 6 USB slots, which is more than enough room for both mine and Conor’s devices.
Travel adapter | With an extension cable, you’ll just need one travel adapter, but I always like to buy them before my trip so I’m not frantically searching for a shop when I arrive. Plus, it’s usually a lot cheaper. I’d really recommend getting a worldwide adapter – it can be moved to work with any plug across the world.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Which part of Milos is the best to stay?
When visiting Milos, I’d recommend staying in either Pollonia or Plaka. Pollonia is a picturesque fishing village with a laid back atmosphere, great seafood restaurants and , and Plaka is the capital of the island, with whitewashed buildings, charming narrow streets and traditional Greek tavernas.
How many days in Milos is enough?
Four days is enough time in Milos to visit Plaka and Pollonia, take a boat trip to Kleftiko, and visit incredible beaches such as Sarakiniko, Papafragas and Firopotamos. It’ll also give you enough time to explore the fishing villages of Kilma and Mandrakia (make sure you get lunch at Medusa).
Is Milos a walkable island?
Although Milos is quite small, it’s not a walkable island. You’ll need to hire a car or ATV, or use public buses to get around. There are only a few taxi’s on the island, so they’re not a reliable method of transport.
Where’s the best place to go after Milos?
I’d recommend visiting Paros or Naxos after Milos. A ferry from Milos to Paros takes around 3 and a half hours, and from Milos to Naxos it’s four hours. You could also visit Sifnos, which is only 1 hour 20 minutes by ferry, and Kimolos, which is around 1 hour.
Do I need a car for Milos?
I’d strongly recommend hiring a car for your trip to Milos, but it’s not essential. There are public buses that run fairly regularly during the summer, but having a car gives you flexibility to visit places on your own schedule, meaning you can stop off anywhere that catches your eye.
How do you get around Milos without a car?
To get around Milos without a car, you can use local buses that connect the towns and villages. There’s bus terminals in Triovasalos, Plaka, Trypiti, Pollonia, Paliochori, Achivadolimni, Sarakiniko and Provatas, as well as additional stops along the way, so you should be able to get to most places.
Is Milos less expensive than Santorini?
Yes, Milos is considerably cheaper than Santorini. Santorini is one of the most visited Greek islands and with mass tourism comes an increase in prices. Milos is growing in popularity but hasn’t yet reached the same levels as Santorini and Mykonos, so it’s a more affordable alternative.
