Park Hyatt St Kitts: Hotel Review [2024]
The Park Hyatt St Kitts is one of the most luxurious places to stay on the island of St Kitts, and I’ve just returned from spending a few days there.
If you’re thinking about booking it for your trip to St Kitts, you’re probably curious as to what it’s actually like to stay there, so I’ll cover everything you need to know in this hotel review.
About the hotel
Park Hyatt St Kitts is a 5* luxury hotel located in Banana Bay, on the South East of the island.
From here, you get uninterrupted views over Nevis, and you very much get the feeling of being on your own private island.
It’s a huge resort with 124 rooms and suites, two swimming pools, three restaurants, a pool bar and a beach bar, and its design is modern and sleek.
It’s a great base for both families and couples. There’s plenty of activities to keep children entertained, and the adults-only pool is a welcome addition for those travelling without kids.
First impressions
I was sold as soon as I stepped foot into this hotel. The entrance is grand, spacious and airy, with a long path leading through the middle of a pond filled with fish.
The view opens up to the bright blue water in the distance, and it’s hard not to be wowed.
Whilst waiting to check in I was offered water and rum punch, and given a damp towel to cool down with.
Once my room was ready, I jumped in a golf cart with a friendly member of staff and made my way round.
These golf carts are available to take you around the resort whenever you want, you just need to ring reception to order one.
It’s worth noting that this hotel is a huge resort, and if it wasn’t for the view over Nevis, I felt as though I could have been anywhere. It doesn’t have that traditional Caribbean feel.
So for that reason I’d recommend splitting your time between this resort for a spot of classic luxury and another hotel, like Belle Mont Farm, to get a more authentic (but still luxurious) experience.
Rooms
There’s 124 rooms and suites at the hotel, and I checked into room 1203, a ground floor room with a private patio and views of the swimming pool and over Nevis.
The rooms are modern and fairly stripped back, which helps create a really calming atmosphere. I had a king sized bed, a separate lounge chair, desk, an open bathroom area with his and hers sinks, a bath tub, separate shower, and a toilet cubicle.
The bathroom area had sliding doors surrounding it so I could make it more private if I wanted to, which I thought was a great touch.
There was also a large walk in wardrobe with an ironing board which was a great space for dumping my bags and getting them out of the way.
The Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom added to the feeling of luxury. It’s one of my favourite brands so I was very happy about that!
Concierge are on hand 24/7 for anything you need, I called a few times and found the team to be really helpful and efficient.
They always answered the phone quickly (one of my pet hates when I stay at a hotel is waiting for ages for reception to pick up the phone so I appreciated it).
If you’re looking for even more luxury, go for a rooftop suite, which has floor to ceiling sea views and its own private plunge pool.
Facilities
There’s two swimming pools at the hotel, the first being a huge pool for everyone to use. It has a shallow part and a deeper part, as well as a separate hot tub and even basketball nets inside the pool, so it’s great for all ages.
There’s loungers surrounding the pool as well as more spacious cabanas which you need to reserve in advance.
Head up the stairs behind the pool and you’ll find an adults only pool, with more incredible views over the water and out to Nevis.
There’s a spacious, well equipped gym that’s open 24 hours and has everything you need for a workout, as well as a small spa with a plunge pool, steam rooms, loungers, sauna, 9 treatment rooms, and even a hair and nail salon. Use of the spa and the gym is complimentary for guests.
Activities
There’s lots to keep you entertained here as the resort is so big.
You can go on a guided snorkelling tour with a member of staff, and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to spot rays and small sharks.
You can also take a boat from the resorts pier over to Nevis, the journey only takes 8 minutes!
They have Pickleball courts, Topgolf, stargazing, fitness lessons, private cooking classes, steelpan drum lessons, and sound healing classes.
There’s even lawn games scattered around the resort, including jenga, connect4, hopscotch, volleyball, football and even human size chessboards that feel very Harry Potter-esque.
And just 10 minutes from the hotel is Timothy Hill Overlook, one of the most famous attractions in St Kitts.
This tiny bit of land sits has the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other. The views up here are incredible so it’s a must visit during your stay!
Food and drink
There’s a great selection of restaurants and bars at Park Hyatt St Kitts, serving a mixture of local and international dishes.
First is Great House, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a large space with an outdoor terrace and views over the water.
I only ate in here for breakfast and I was really impressed by the offering. There’s a great selection of lighter bites such as granola, yogurt and cereals, as well as pastries, oats and fruit.
They also serve eggs any way you want them, as well as pancakes and a selection of local dishes. Plus, there’s plenty of sides you can add to any meal.
During my stay I tried the omelette (which I added plenty of fillings to), the fruit, yogurt, granola, pastries, the local Johnny Cake and the pancakes.
The omelette was well cooked with plenty of flavour, but the Hummingbird pancakes stole the show for me. They had caramelised pineapple, banana, dark rum and toasted pecans.
The waitress told us that the secret is to first cook them on the stove and then finish them in the oven to get the fluffy finish, they tasted like cake and were absolutely amazing!
Next up is Stone Barn, the fine dining option at Park Hyatt St Kitts. It’s adults only with a more formal dress code, and here you’ll be served a 9 course tasting menu. The menu costs $145 per person, or $245 if you have the wine pairing.
But my favourite restaurant at the resort was the Fisherman’s Village, a stunning over water building designed to feel like the fisherman’s huts that once lined the St Kitts shore.
I had both lunch and dinner here during my stay and both meals were delicious. They specialise in seafood but there’s also a good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes.
Expect appetizers like sweet and spicy plantain, nachos, conch, garlic and chilli shrimps and jerked chicken wings, and burgers, soups, salads, paellas and pastas for main.
I tried the buttermilk fried chicken burger, the plantain, nachos, conch and the caeser salad, and all of the dishes were absolutely delicious. The setting here is beautiful with incredible views over Nevis.
Down on the beach you’ll find Fane’s Beach Bar. You can’t get alcohol here which I found a bit unusual, but you can order smoothies, juices, gelatos and sorbets.
If you want alcohol, you’ll need to visit the Rampart pool bar. Here you can enjoy delicious cocktails, I tried the Rum Punch and the frozen pina colada which were both delicious.
At the pool bar you can enjoy food either at a table in front of the bar, or delivered to your lounger.
The menu is similar to the one at Fisherman’s Village, with a few changes to the dishes. I had the fish tacos here and they were good, although not my favourite meal I had at the hotel.
But probably my favourite touch, that I didn’t find out about until the last day unfortunately, was that you can get fresh coconuts from the grounds staff, which are a very welcome refreshment in the heat.
What is there for children at Park Hyatt St Kitts?
There’s plenty to keep children entertained at Park Hyatt St Kitts, including a large swimming pool, a beach, sports, an activities schedule, and a kids club.
Plus, there’s babysitting services if you want to enjoy some free time.
Final thoughts
The Park Hyatt St Kitts is a great choice if you’re looking for luxury accommodation in St Kitts.
This is the kind of hotel that you won’t have to leave if you don’t want to (although I definitely wouldn’t recommend that when you’re somewhere as incredible as St Kitts)
The rooms are modern and spacious, there’s brilliant facilities, a private beach, excellent food, and a really friendly team.
It is very much a resort though, so you lose a sense of place. But it’s a great option for both families and couples, and I promise you’ll have a brilliant time if you choose to stay here.
